ICS Electronics Ltd. was formed in 1982.
The early development of the company centred on land based radio data communications
applications with the United Nations, the International Red Cross, and Médecins sans
Frontières as major customers. We have also provided coast radio station solutions
in the former USSR(Radio Telex) and the UK(NAVTEX).
With the advent of GMDSS (the Global Maritime Distress and Safety
System), we became increasingly involved in marine distress and safety communication - to
the point where it has now become our main activity. We launched our NAV5 NAVTEX
receiver immediately prior to the compulsory fitting date for ships of over 300grt (August
1st 1993). The NAV5 proved to be a major success and is still one of our best
selling products. Shortly afterwards we launched a NAVTEX receiver aimed at the
leisure market, the NAV4. About 17% of the worlds commercial ships currently
use ICS NAVTEX receivers, in addition to many smaller vessels. We also manufacture a
WindowsNT based NAVTEX message broadcasting system. NAVTEX transmissions from
many countries throughout the world now emanate from our equipment.
Following our success in the NAVTEX market, we developed a revolutionary
new GMDSS DSC (Digital Selective Calling) and Radio Telex system: the DSC2. The
intuitive operation of our DSC system when compared to many of our competitors has won us
a great deal of praise and many orders.
Why cant you insist that this becomes the industry
standard and that nothing else is acceptable? Make the actual transmitters,
receivers and so on wherever you like - from Toronto to Tokyo - but make it a requirement
that this is the DSC controller that goes with them.

SPEAKING OF ICSS DSC2 SYSTEM AT THE 1997 PLYMOUTH GMDSS CONFERENCE
It is widely acclaimed as the easiest to use in the world. Clients
for our GMDSS related equipment include navies, coast guards, national administrations and
major shipping lines worldwide.
Our DSC Equipment is incorporated within systems sold by many well known system
integrators and distributors within the marine electronics industry. We regard
partnership with such companies as a key to our long term success, enabling us to provide
high quality installation and support engineering for our systems and products throughout
the world.
