IMPORTANT information for ICS NAV4 PLUS users.
The NAV4plus NAVTEX station database contained in firmware version 2.08 and earlier versions is referenced to previously published information. Previous information stated that one of the four new Italian NAVTEX stations would be located at BARI using station identity letter U.
Please note that the proposed NAVTEX station at BARI was later deleted and replace by a new NAVTEX station location at TRIESTE.
TRIESTE has commenced operation using station identity letter U (same as previously issued for use by BARI), this change means that the older versions of the NAV4 PLUS database incorrectly locate station U some 200 miles to the South of its actual position.
Because of this change, vessels operating within coverage of the TRIESTE NAVTEX station should always manually set the NAV4 PLUS for reception of station U or messages will be missed.
Consequently, use of NAV4 PLUS 'Automatic NAVTEX station selection' is not recommend for vessels sailing in the Adriatic Sea unless you first upgrade to NAV4plus version 2.66 or a later version.
NAV4 plus firmware upgrades are now available through the ICS dealer network or direct from ICS.
