New Technology - Radio over IP/Voice over IP (RoIP/VoIP) Voice Switches in Marine Communications Systems

ICS has complimented its Coast Station Marine Communications Systems with the introduction of a new RoIP/VoIP Voice Switch. When used with the new ICS V4 RoIP Gateway and the V4 Radio Telephony Control Unit (RTCU), virtually any radio base station can be connected to the system providing seamless VoIP communications from radio to operator and operator to radio.

The ICS V4 audio switch is different to generic VoIP technology in that has been specifically designed to meet the challenges faced in marine voice communications. These include: single point source to multi receive paths, IP packet time stamping and synchronisation, scheduled broadcasting of voice messages to multiple site and radio types, voting and quasi-synchronous modes.
